FAQ

I'm a local romance author. Will you sell my books?

We sell a selection of books from local writers. Please contact us if you'd like to chat about stocking your book at Swoon City.

I'm a local non-romance author. Will you sell my books?

Likely not, the store's focus is on romance books. However, there are a number of great independent bookstores in Seattle that may be willing to sell your books.

How can I apply to teach at Swoon City?

Please submit a message via the contact form with details about your class including your suggested class price. We split class fees 60/40 with 60% going to the teacher. Teachers must provide all materials for classes.

Is everything in your store made by independent artists?

A lot. About 75% of our non-book inventory is designed or made by artists. When we can, we buy directly from the artist, and artists that hail from the Pacific Northwest, so every purchase you make is supporting artists and a local shop run by mainly artists.

Are most of the artists local?

Lots of them are but not 100%. When we can we find local artists that fit our vibe, if we have something specific in mind for the store and we can't find a Pacific Northwest artisan, we include artists from around the country. We also try to bring in work from artists from a variety of backgrounds.

How can I sell my work in your store?

We work with independent artists who don't get the same kinds of discounts on supplies that a large manufacturing company would. That makes their work more expensive for us - and also more expensive for you. We know not everyone can afford to avoid fast fashion and there's no shame in that. We like to offer people another option: buying from independent artists in a family owned local shop.

Are you hiring?

Not currently, but you are welcome to email a resume to info @ swoon (dot) city and we'll keep it on file.
